The Ethical Product Review

 Blood Diamond
An Ex-Mercenary turned diamond smuggler (Leonardo DiCaprio) and a Mende fisherman (Djimon Hounsou). Amid the explosive civl war overtaking 199 Sierra Leone, these men join for two desparate missions: recovering a rare pink diamond of immense value, and rescuing the fisherman's son, conscripted as a child soldier into the brutal rebel forces ripping a swathe of torture and bloodshed across the alternately beautiful and ravaged countryside. Directed by Edward Zwick (Glory, The Last Samurai), this urgent, intensely moving adventure shapes gripping human stories and heart-pounding action into a modern epic of profound impact.

This was a an interesting viewpoint for Hollywood to take and about time too. The movie was quite long but was gripping enough not to seem so. Watching it with a Zimbabwean though made me realise how poor Danny Archer's accent was. I had thought that, as a so-called method actor, he could have done a bit better. This is not to detract from the message, the photography and the plotline, all of which were absolutely first rate.
Brings a spotlight to the real costs and repercussions
 diCaprio slighty dodgy accent
